Special Event:
Murder Mystery Event June 2011 - members of the public "thank you."
Once again the public gave our amateurish acting the thumbs up and helped us raise £690 to split between our two charities.
The theme was a Western (Cowboy) set in the late nineteenth century where shots were fired and someone died! The sheriff had to decide between four 'characters' who shot Two Guns by listening to some pretty tall stories. The audience listened too and the participating teams had to come up with the actual answer in order to win the prize.
Each year we write and stage an unique Murder Mystery event. Keep an eye on our website for our 2012 offering.

On the community front
One of the priorities of the club is to support the community and local charities in a voluntary capacity. If an organisation requires manpower we are happy to provide it at any stage, either at an event or behind the scenes. Sometimes we receive a donation to our own charity fund in recognition of our help.
We regularly volunteer for:
- Hitchin and Letchworth Mencap Sportsday and Christmas Party
- St Albans Cycle Ride in Association with Rotary Clubs of St Albans
- Harpenden Highland Gathering in association with Harpenden Lions Club
Each year the club supports two charities selected by club members. One is a national or international charity and the other is a local charity. We get involved in various events throughout the year to raise money for our nominated charities. This figure is between £1,000 and £3,000.
Our charities for 2011 – 2012 are:
- Hertfordshire Young Homeless Group - http://www.hyhg.org/
Herts Young Homeless Group is an independent charity enabling young people to secure and maintain appropriate accomodation through prevention, crisis intervention and tenancy sustainment. With its head office based in Hatfield, HYHG works to support young people who are homeless or are at risk of homelessness in Hertfordshire.
- The Willow Foundation - http://www.willowfoundation.org.uk/Home
This is a national charity that provides special days for seriously ill 16-40 year olds. Special days offer much needed time out from the stresses of living with a life-threatening condition, a chance to feel normal and to create happy memories.
We have donated over £1,500 to each of our previous year’s charities and these were:
St Francis Hospice - http://www.stfrancis.org.uk/Home/8.id
Action for Children - www.actionforchildren.org.uk
Some of the other member nominated charities we have supported:
National:
- Help for Heroes
- Sight Savers
- Send a Cow
- Childline
- National Association Colitis and Crohns
- Great Ormond Street Hospital
Local:
- Libra Support Group, Stevenage
- Hertfordshire Air Ambulance
- Community Meeting Point, Harpenden
- Phoenix Holidays
- Peace Hospice, Watford
- Open Door Homeless Shelter, St. Albans
